Starting with a background in French, a wide range of graduate programs enable you to focus on French or Francophone Literature and Culture, French linguistics, or teaching French. Francophone Studies address the literature and culture of the French-speaking world outside France (e.g., Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, the Caribbean, Québec). You can focus primarily on French or Francophone Studies, or do comparative study between French and any other languages.
